How to Spend Wisely on Your 'Dream Wedding'

I was doing some research about wedding and travel and I found this useful tips, so I decided to share it here.

As one would normally conclude, weddings can take a toll on your finances. So what about a destination wedding? ‘Even more so', I hear you say. Well, that is half true.

Will that 'Dream Wedding' of yours take a toll on your finances?

Knowing your budget and spending wisely is the key to not sacrificing your special day. Here are some tips on what you can do:

Group Rates
If you are booking your flights or accommodation through a travel agent, try to confirm the number of guests early so you can get a better rate. Traveling with a big group will allow you to get group rates, which are much cheaper. However, if you are not going through a travel agent, you can always contact the hotel or resorts directly to ask.

Travel Seasons
Understanding the peak and non-peak seasons for the country you will be traveling to will greatly help with your budget. This is because prices are marked up higher than normal during the peak seasons. Getting married during the non-peak seasons will lower your cost on the 2 most costly aspects of your destination wedding – transportation and accommodation.

Exchange Rates
If you do not have a specific destination in mind, why not consider destinations with lower exchange rates compared to your home country. For example, Australians can opt to go to Bali or Phuket for their wedding because of the lower exchange rates, which can affect the wedding budget. The same item that can be purchased in your home country could be a little cheaper due to the exchange rates.
A well planned, well budgeted destination wedding could make your dream wedding come true

Guests to pay own airfare
Yes you read correct. It is perfectly fine and normal to get your guests to fork out their own airfare or accommodation for a destination wedding. Unless you are a multibillionaire, your guests will understand this situation. For example, you could let your guests know that there is no need for wedding gifts in exchange of their presence at your wedding. Wouldn't that be a win-win situation for all?

So there you are! Some tips on how you could maximize your budget and still have that wonderful dream wedding of yours.
